Pleasant Garden, NC - For more than 30 years Charles "C.T." Strickland has had an interest in crafts, specifically leather crafting.
He moved from creating holsters and belts to music straps for mandolins and guitars. "I made the first custom strap actually in 2003 for recording artist Rhonda Vincent", says Strickland.
One year later he incorporated his business. Now, he along with Texas resident Trish Taylor, whose specialty is calligraphy and Alabama resident Heather Boynton whose specialty is crystal embellishment create music straps for some of the biggest names in Bluegrass. His current project is creating two straps for performing artist Norah Jones.
Strickland is proud of the fact that each strap is unique and handmade, no machines are used to produce the straps. "I keep it in America, everything done on these straps is totally American and it starts and ends right here in North Carolina the Triad."
Recently a donation of twenty guitars to the Victory Junction Camp gave him a reason to create a one-of-a-kind guitar strap for the children that visit the camp each year.
